Fishing Report from TPWD (Jul. 30)

EXCELLENT. Water stained; 88 degrees; 0.16 feet below pool. Largemouth are slow during the day and only a little more active at night. Slower presentation lures have been best. Crappie are numerous on timber and brush piles between 15-25 feet deep. They have been slow to respond and have been best on minnows. Channel catfish and blue cats have been biting fair this week on stink bait, minnows and cut bait. No reports on other species. Report by Chris Caswell, Lake Bob Sandlin Crappie Fishing Guide. Crappie fishing is excellent anywhere from 8-30 feet of water on timber. Focus on points and any timber on points with minnows preferred over jigs. Cypress Springs and brush piles are also producing well. The quality of fish is phenomenal. Report by Dan Langston, River Bottom Boys Guide Service. Fish shaded areas along retaining walls with coneheads and clousers for bass. Fish weedless streamers around vegetation for bass during the evenings. Report by Guide Alex Guthrie, Fly Fish Fork Guide Service.
